Wednesday and Thursday, December 8-9, Roatan, Honduras and day at sea

We’re behind in our blog postings; we’ll explain in the near future. Even days-at-sea (no excursion) are extremely full. This is a good problem to have.

Our cruise has always showed us At Anchor for our Wednesday 08-Dec stop in Roatan. Once here we noticed 3 (NCL/RCL/Carnival) large cruise ships tied up to piers. Sadly, the swells were too large to safely tender so another port was lost to excursions. Not totally uncommon as this happened several times on our Australian cruise. One staff member Cap asked about docking priorities replied it was ‘first come, first served.’ We still have to wonder why for more than a year we showed At Anchor if we could have docked?

In the evening, we enjoyed another wine-pairing dinner at La Reserve--seven amazing courses with a French theme, and lovely wines to accompany them. Thursday we participated in another culinary class, featuring items from Red Ginger, the Asian-Fusion specialty restaurant on board. Did we say one of the reasons we love Oceania is its dedication to providing "the finest cuisine at sea" to its guests?

Your intrepid chefs at left, and the dishes prepared and ingredients used below-- Pomelo Banh Trang Rolls, Miso-glazed Sea Bass, Lobster Pad Thai--and cardomon ice cream to finish. Yummm!
